As usual, Eyewitness does it's wonderful job organizing everything you want to do wherever you travel. And the pictures are so inviting. This Greek Island Travel Guide is no exception. Always use Eyewitness.
Beautiful book! I bought several travel guides to Greece, but this was my favorite.
Very extensive, but not that great for cruise purposes. I have found websites online that are designed for passengers who are on cruises and just visiting the port for 4 or 5 hours, which is what we will be doing. This book is very extensive and great background reading. I supplement that with wikipedia searches to TRY to understand the culture and history of these coastal city-states. Over the years they have been independent, or owned by Turkey, Venice, Ottomans, Greeks, British, Italians, Russians, Slavs the list goes on and on. It is dizzying to even think of.
The travel guide is so informative and so complete.
This is a very comprehensive guide book. I used it for a reference on my recent cruise to the Greek Isles. Donated it to my local library after my trip.
It's definitely a very pretty book (and a heavy one!) - lot's of great pictures in high resolution - but it gave very little useful information. There was nothing in there giving you advice on how to navigate each island or which area to stay on the island or even enough hotel/food recommendations. I know there are lots of islands to cover but perhaps if they focused more on the writing and less on the pictures, I would have gotten some useful info. Instead, I returned it and will get something with more detail.
Great refrence for an upcoming trip
Excellent survey of the wonderful world of the Aegean.
