I love the jewelry and learned a good bit about collecting vintage stuff.
Why great? Lots of history, information on identifying unmarked pieces, dating of components, pricing guide, great, quality photos. I pull it out frequently. You can find many books with nice photos (and more of them), but this one shows the backs, which is poorly lacking in most jewelry collectors books.
The most helpful section is in the back, where it helps date jewelry by the type of findings and stones. What I was looking for was a book like that, but much more in depth. Haven't found that yet. Otherwise, this book is fine, but like other books of this type, it won't help you too much with identifying pieces that aren't in the book. The text is quite helpful, though, and I haven't read it all yet.
I really like the Warman's Costume Jewelry book. It shows the back of the jewelry which is rare. Highly Recommend
This is my first jewelry book, but I love the unsigned identification info in the back. Information on dating pieces is also super neat. Very informative, great photos, and a good reference if you come across a lot of vintage jewelry.

Great reference. I loved how the book is sectioned by era, and designers along with sections on how to date pieces. Numerous beautiful pictures. Each era section begins with a narrative about the era's influences as related to costume jewelry. Every collector should have this book for reference.
This beautiful, well written and photographed book is a must have for any vintage costume jewelry collector or someone interested in collecting vintage jewelry. Perhaps you will look at grandmother's "old jewelry" in a new light after reading this book.
