Love this book,very good thick sturdy paper,thick book cute pages the only problem would be is u use markers this isn't a one sided coloring book so u would mess up the page behind it but I still love it
I love this artwork, I hadn't seen this artist before and I am now a fan. The subject matter delves deep into the imagination and features things like girls riding on animals, animals worn as hats, machinery and other ethereal things (a hat with an ice cream dispenser.) The lines are sketchlike and blend well into the coloring to look more realistic than harsh line work in my opinion.This is such a fun coloring book and on such nice paper. Copic markers work very well on this but of course will bleed through so you have to choose which side you want to keep. To be honest I hate when coloring books are printed on both sides because you have to choose one side and lose the other. I would take off one star for this but the price is very reasonable so I ordered another copy to be able to use the back and also some to give to friends as gifts.Even the cover can be colored so that is what I started with. And I guess after coloring so many pages I’d have to say this is my favorite coloring book ever.I would love to see more coloring books from this illustrator!
This is a wonderful coloring book filled with imaginative and unusual Manga style designs. I am used to straight-forward Manga with cute girls with big eyes. In this book, the girls are still beautiful but are incorporated into fantasy style images. Quite often, the subject girl is pensive, staring off into space.This is a book that I am buying for several of my friends for gifts at the holidays. It is so unusual and different, they will be sure to love it, too.The designs are detailed and some are intricate. Coloring them is definitely akin to coloring artwork rather than simple line drawings. I think the book is pretty much one of a kind, though I can hope that the artist may consider issuing another coloring book in the future.This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper:80 pages of imaginative and unusual Manga style designs (includes title page and copyright page.)Printed on both sides of the pagePaper is heavy weight, white, slightly rough and non-perforatedGlue bindingDesigns merge into the binding area and a number of them cross over the binding for a two-page designBook can be opened fairly flat but takes some effort and breaks the spine of the book.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paperbacksWater-based markers, India ink pens, and gel pens do not bleed through or leave shadows. Some gel pens require additional drying time.Colored pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils.
When I opened the package containing this book, my first word was "Wow". It is such a beautiful, well made book. I couldn't believe I got it for under ten dollars, when I have paid so much more for such lesser quality books. The paper is thick and printed on both sides, the art is so pretty you almost don't want to color it :) It has lots of art to color, not filler like a lot of books have... like swirly stuff and circles ( I hate when they fill coloring books with those ) The pictures are more like sketches and not solid lines. The front and back cover of the book are not glossy and can also be colored. I am super happy with this purchase.
Incredible coloring book! One of the best I've purchased. Nice sturdy cover. I like the square size. The paper is a nice weight. The printing and detail is of the highest quality. The pages are double sided, and not thick enough for super heavy layers of Copic. But, with Amazon's pre-order price guarantee (and at Amazon's current price, which is less than half the retail price), I was able to buy multiples. I highly suggest you buy at least 2 copies. I purchased extras so I can remove the pages and not feel guilty because I have one to keep perfectly intact. You will not be disappointed. I hope Camilla comes out with more in this series!
I have admired this artist since high school and I am honored to have the opportunity to color her artwork!A tiny drawback to this book is the fact that the pages are printed double sided (forcing me to choose between two pictures I really like) and that there are these occasional pattern pages that lack detail and cohesiveness when compared to the rest of the book.There’s a butterfly page and a strawberry page for example, and it kind of looks like the pages were hastily scribbled in. I feel like those pages were unnecessary and would have been better utilized by adding more helmet girl drawings, that weren’t already included, there instead.It was kind of disappointing to see that the same amount of detail that was given to each girl was not spent on those pages as well. Buuuut on the plus side, I’m glad those pages exist because that makes choosing a side to color and keep a no-brainer! LolThis is a a beautiful, inspiring book and I look forward to finishing every single page!!
